CLOUD VELVET is a multifaceted project which has found its place in exploring various music genres, from synthpop, shoegaze, dance, to rock and industrial. Simple poetics underlying the rich metaphorical images of lyrics, narrated through Lydia's airy voice and Sebastian's multi-instrumentalist arrangements, was something that came naturally to us. Walking through life with a retro-futuristic minimalist approach is just another form of art that allows us to rewrite history by going back to the future. When bringing our feelings and thoughts to words and sounds, we nonetheless surrender to the Dreamer in us who travels across the soft velvet-like sky, building a staircase to a whole new world, free from earth's limitations and rigid concepts of mind. We've always been drawn to perceive music as the soundtrack of our lives, which is why we hope our music ends up sounding as a film soundtrack.

Slovenski dvojec Cloud Velvet je svoje mesto našel v izražanju skozi različne glasbene žanre, od synthpopa, dreampopa, shoegazea, dance glasbe, pa vse do rocka in industriala. Njegove stvaritve odlikuje preprosta poetika, na kateri temeljijo bogate metaforične podobe besedil pripovedovanih skozi eteričen glas pevke Lidije Petković in multi-instrumentalni aranžmaji Sebastijana Roškariča.
Hoja skozi življenje z retro-futurističnim minimalističnim pristopom je le še ena oblika umetnosti, ki jima omogoča, da poustvarjata zgodovino in se hkrati vračata v prihodnost. Pri prenašanju svojih občutkov in misli skozi besedo in zvok se tako predajata Sanjaču v nas, ki potuje po mehkem žametnem nebu in gradi stopnišče v povsem nov svet, osvobojen zemeljskih omejitev in togih konceptov uma. Glasbo dojemata kot zvočno spremljavo naših življenj, zato lahko njuno ustvarjanje doživljamo kot filmski soundtrack.

As children of the 70s & 80s, we've always been fond of film music. Eventually, we started seeking inspirations for creating our own material. We first began playing and recording songs from the likes of The Cure, David Bowie, Pet Shop Boys, The Cranberries...The first covers included songs like Alcoholic from Starsailor, The Cure's A Forest and Charlotte Sometimes and Dolores O'Riordan's Stay With Me, in memoriam of her amazing musical legacy and tragic death in January 2018.
While busy working on another musical project, as a bass player in the Slovenian rock band Okttober, and recording songs for the band's upcoming album, Sebastian ended up creating his own music production studio STUDIO 87. This was a long-awaited dream becoming a reality and soon the work started on recording Cloud Velvet's first demos, exploring new sounds and worlds influenced by many different genres, including synthwave, shoegaze, Americana, hip-hop, roots reggae, dub and even heavy metal.
It turned out, we've used the covid-19 pandemic quarantine to finally start working on our debut album. We began recording, producing and mixing twelve demo tracks, with ''Kraljica sanj'' and ''Layers'' being two of the first singles to be released.
